Love Hate Relationship
Normally these don't bother me. Can't say the same for my daughter. They really don't like her. But, if I leave them alone they leave me alone. Although, they do like to sneak in the door when no one is looking and they like my computer chair. I rarely (not ever) check my seat before sitting down. OUCH!!

White Tailed Deer
Yipes!! It's been a while since I last posted an image. I've been busy catching up with work and have had little time to do any photography. We took some time off this past weekend to attend a birthday party for my DIL's father. They live in a beautiful part of Texas. While there, we traveled a little further south and I managed to get a shot of this white tailed buck.

Hibiscus
I bought a Hibiscus plant for the deck. It's a tropical plant so I will have to bring it in during the winter and hope I don't kill it before spring. But, I am having fun taking photos in the meantime.

Relaxing on the Porch
My husband built a deck and porch onto the front of my studio.
I will be forever grateful. I think it is one of the nicest things he has ever done for me.
I sit with a cup of coffee and watch the birds come to the feeders. It is so relaxing just watching them that I spend entirely too much time on the porch instead of working. Oh, well.

Natural Gas Well
Natural gas seems to be prevalent around the area where I live. This tower went up in little more than a month and they are already drilling for gas.

The Guys
This is a watercolor of my son-in-law and grandson. The first one I have ever done.
My daughter took the photo. She thought their identical stances were cute.
So do I.

Kaw-Liga
That poor old wooden head.
A different meaning for "saddle up to the bar"??
This is the bar in the Fort Worth Hotel in the Stockyards. And, yes, the bar stools are saddles.

A Touch of Asymmetry
This is the other photo that was entered into the Touch of Color photograpy contest. It won.
This photo has been a point of contention ever since I took it.
I have a big problem with most things that are perfectly symmetrical. I know there are some things that look better, in fact, need to be symmetrical, but in my world they are rarer than one might think.
I first entered this photograph in my local camera club's weekly photo contest. It won that contest and went on to win the monthly contest as well.
That made it eliglbe for the Photograph of the Year contest to be judged by 3 professional photographers. 1 judge liked it....1 didn't. He didn't like the slight asymmetry. He thought it needed to be straight or more asymmetrical.
When I set this up to photograph, I set it up with the background stripes perfectly straight. I did not like it at all. I then changed to a more pronounced diagonal. I didn't like that either. The background became the focus instead of the bottle. So, I shot it with the background on a slight diagonal. I love it. Since I shoot for me, that was enough. Thankfully, the tie breaker judge liked it as well. It won Photograph of the Year.
Red Rose Reflection
A photography forum that I participated in had a contest entitled A Touch of Color. We were to enter a photograph depicting that theme. This is one of my entries.

Wolf in Tooled Leather Frame
While on a trip to Arizona, we visited a wolf refuge. The owner of the refuge was away and his manager let me in the pens with some of them so I could get better photos.
There was a large timber wolf that I really wanted to photograph but could not get in the pen to get better shots. I did, however, get to go into the pen where there were some newborn wolf pups. I opted not to photograph them. First, they were in an underground den and the lighting was not very good. Also, the other wolves in the pen, maybe a dozen or so, were circling around me protecting the pups. They were keeping their distance, but I didn't want to make them any more nervous than they already were.
Earlier, a different wolf came up to me, jumped up and put his front paws on my shoulders. We were eye to eye. I am not short. Neither was he. I didn't need a dozen or so trying that or worse.
This is one of the wolves painted on a bisque platter with fired ceramic colors.

Blue Poppies
This ceramic bowl was painted, in the style of Jeanette McCall, to immulate Moorcroft Pottery.
It is piped (tubelined) with a dimensional ceramic product then painted with fired ceramic color.

Tulips
I was ready for spring so I purchased these tulips at the grocery store. This photo was taken using the available light from my dining room window.
Shedding
I liked the way this sunflower was drooping over one of its leaves and shedding pollen. So shoot me!
The Beast
Crawdads, crawdaddies, mud bugs....take your pick.
When it rains, these are common on our property. I'm glad because they attract birds and other critters that like to feed on them.
This one was in a water puddle in the driveway. When I got down to its eye level to photograph it, he became aggressive. Ohhhhh, I'm so scared.

Majolica Butterfly
Majolica is a type of pottery in which an earthenware clay body (usually a red earthenware) is covered with an opaque white glaze (traditionally a lead glaze including tin), then painted with stains or glazes and fired.
Today, we don't use lead based or tin based glazes, but the technique is the same. This was painted on top of an opaque white glaze with satin glazes and fired. It is perfectly food safe.

Yes, Another One
Oil on canvas.
The photo of this rooster was taken at a living history museum in Virginia.
The goal of the museum was to explain the evolution of the American farm. Irish, English, and German farm buildings had been dismantled in their respective countries, shipped to Virigina, and reassembled, along with American ones, at this site so that you could see the influence each had on our American farm buildings. In addition to the buildings on each farm, they had animals from the period represented as well. I don't know what kind of rooster this is, but I thought he was pretty.

Eat your Veges
I painted this earthenware ceramic tea kettle to look like old, chipped enamelware while it was in the greenware state. I fired the tea kettle then painted the vegetables on the bisque.

Flamingo
On a recent trip to the zoo, I shot a photo of this flamingo with its head turned around into its feathers. I chose to paint just the head because it followed the triangle contour of this plate.

Rooster Tray
An old Russian proverb. I guess I wasn't born lucky as I have never had one of my roosters lay an egg. At least, not that I am aware of. But then again.....

Is It White with Black or Black with White
I go to the zoo by myself alot. I enjoy the peacefullness and solitude.
I took a photo of a zebra and decided to paint only a portion of it on a tear-drop shaped plate with fired ceramic color.
